AAAB architects in cooperation with KORTROS developer has been engaged to realize the master plan on an area of approximately 370 Has of the Rostov-sur-Don Airport site. The urban development of the airport site will be based in the fluid cooperation of the different entities, public and private where the respect of the memory and the sustainability will be the key of this project. Aviator integrates and develops concepts and aspects that transform a normal city in a “Sustainable city”. Starting for reuse the land, Aviator proposes a “green” urban architectural format were the natural sources, as Sun, Wind, Views, Memory and topography ….. are design the urban matrix of the project without using high technology.
5 main themes will be the engines of this project:
- The airport track, a new public space
- The green public spaces,
- The connectivity
- The sustainability
- The Landmark of the project
The general master plan will be divided in several phases taking account the existing use of the airport until 2018, the topography, the accessibility of the site during airport activity , and the program plan. In total the area will house approximately 3.8 millions of square meters.
The design of the buildings will integrate renewable sources with sources looking for the future such as photovoltaic and geothermal energy. Besides Aviator will be a green hub integrating main infrastructure arteries, symbol of the modern face of one of the most important Russians cities.
